Overwatch has officially made its long-awaited transition to Overwatch 2, introducing new game modes, heroes, cosmetics, and some new balance changes. The Switch also brings major changes to the Overwatch 2 tank. While some players will be sad to hear that the original game is no longer offline and playable, it does mean that it has received some much-needed changes and updates. One of the biggest changes from Overwatch to Overwatch 2 is the switch from 6v6 to 5v5, with each team dropping from two tanks down to one.
This change certainly affected the meta, along with a multitude of individual hero changes, but it has had the biggest impact on the tank class. While there’s only one new tank in the game at the moment, Junker Queen, the switch to a single tank has moved the meta. Previously, some tanks were considered main, while others could fill off-tank slots, focusing more on dealing damage and being a problem for the other team, while the main focus was on protecting heroes with smaller health pools. could focus. All these responsibilities now rest on single tank shoulders, affecting the effectiveness of each hero.
While some heroes got a complete resale for Overwatch 2, some of them only got minor adjustments to their kit. This is true for many tank heroes and while players will certainly enjoy the variety among heroes, some of them are better tanks than others. Orisa makes a triumphant return to Overwatch 2, mostly thanks to her major makeover. While Orisa was good at the original game, her abilities made her a second-rate Reinhardt. Now, she stands on her own and is quite formidable, partly because of just how unskilled she can be. His spear spin allows him to push enemies back as well as negate incoming damage, including melee attacks. Her Fortify bonus gives health, reduces the amount of damage done, and cannot be shocked or stunned.
All of this combined makes it quite difficult to take him down. Add a healer focused on keeping Orisa alive and your team struggles to find her rescue. His one limiting factor is that he is based on melee, his only ability being his fire strike, which can be difficult to hit from afar as it is a medium-speed projectile. 4. Junker Queen

The Sigma is a quality tank pick, whose only real downfall is that there are other tanks that do what it does, but better. Equipped with a shield that can be thrown out, its small health pool of 700 damage means it will cut quickly, but has a relatively short cooldown. Sigma also has his own kinetic grip which allows him to absorb damage for a few seconds and is based on how much damage he absorbs. His rock-throw ability can disrupt enemy players. It’s no longer stunning, but it knocks enemies down, temporarily limiting their movement.
This Rock Toss can also disrupt enemies using ultimate abilities and he can absorb that damage with his other ability. 8. Wrecking Ball
Wrecking Ball has a similar play style to Doomfist, which thrives on its ability to disrupt an enemy team while also tanking damage. Wrecking Ball does it better than Doomfist, with an improved kit that makes him function better as a disruptor and a tank.
