Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is a secret game at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. I call the game secret because while a lot of guests play it, many don’t even know about it. Unless you are specifically looking for it, you probably won’t see Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom played in plain sight. I am going to walk you through how to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom so that you can join in on the fun during your next visit to Walt Disney World. About the Game
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is an interactive game played throughout the park. Help Merlin battle Hades and other Disney villains that want to conquer the park by searching for Mystic Portals and using your Spell Cards to save the day.

To play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, start by visiting the Main Street Firehouse. Here, you will learn how to open the portals, get a starter pack of Spell Cards, designate your Sorcerer Key, and receive a map of the portals, or entrances. There are portals in every land at Magic Kingdom but Tomorrowland. From there, head to your assigned starting portal and follow the onscreen prompts. You will wander around the park visiting portals and casting spells using your Spell Cards. That’s it! Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is super easy to play and a lot of fun. Plus, you get to explore parts of the park you might not have seen.
You start the game on “easy,” so the Spell Card that you play doesn’t matter. We like to see our cards in action during this game. My favorites are Pocahontas’ Colors of the Wind (#51), Tiana’s Hot Sauce (#60), and Olaf’s Snowgies (Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party exclusive).
When you have mastered the easy level, play on medium or hard for a completely different experience. For these levels, the information on the spell card (kind of attack, boost, class, shield, and type) matters; they require a lot quicker thinking and skill.
Sorcerer of the Magic Kingdom Spell Cards
There are 70 numbered Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Spell Cards. Cards 1 through 22 are rare and designated with a star in the bottom left corner. Cards 23 through 40 are uncommon and marked with a moon. 41 through 60 are common and have a planet on them. The last ten cards, 61-70, are only available by purchasing the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom bonus packs. They are super rare, for obvious reasons.
Special Spell Cards are given out during the ticked events at Magic Kingdom (Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween). They are only available during the party, so be sure to pick yours up. These are not included in the numbered cards available to everyone.

Pick up a new pack of Spell Cards from the Firehouse every time you visit Magic Kingdom (as long as you opened at least one portal during your last visit) and when you defeat the game.
Technically, you only need one copy of each Spell Card, but for collector’s purposes, you might want to keep two or three. Trade cards that you have a lot of for one that you don’t have with a friend or other Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom players in the park. You’ll usually see trades taking place at the portals.
Make Your Own Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Binder
We put together a Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom binder so that we have everything that we need to play when we walk into the park.
You will need a binder, pocket protectors with dividers for cards, and tab dividers.
All of the information for my binder came from this website. I made word documents and charts to keep all of the information organized. You can print them at the end of this article.
Tab 1: Map
Obviously, I put a copy of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom map in the “map” section so we always have one. We used our copy from the Main Street Firehouse and just tore it in half.
Tab 2: Story
I included the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom story in my binder so we can know what to expect when battling each villain (there are so many, it’s easy to get lost).
Tab 3: Levels
Here, I have the levels cheat sheet and descriptions. This section is a great reference for how to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom if it’s been a while since your last park visit.
Tab 4: Cards
All of my Spell Cards are laid out chronologically behind the “cards” divider. This makes it easy for us to see which cards we still need and put the card back after using it at a Portal. I also included the Spell Cards’ information and combinations.
Cover
For my cover, I printed out a picture of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom logo on card stock and slid it into the front clear pocket of the binder.
Tips, Tricks, and Hints
Whichever MagicBand or Disney Card you designated as your Sorcerer Key when you began playing, MAKE SURE you bring it with you each time you visit the park. Your Sorcerer Key keeps track of your progress, and you will have to start over if you do not have it with you. This is the essential tip in our how to play article.
In the back of my binder, I keep a stack of cards in a ziplock bag that I am okay with trading. They are easily accessible, and it keeps me from having to dig through my binder, trying to see which cards I have several copies of.
There are several “dark portals” throughout the park. When the sun hits them just right, you will not be able to see the video, but you will be able to hear the audio. It’s a pain, but it is what it is. My husband and I beat the game and finished at the Portal by the Riverboat in Liberty Square and couldn’t see any of the celebratory videos.
When the game asks for the Sorcerers’ Crest, show the back of any Spell Card.
